Why The Golfing Game Has Changed Tremendously In Recent Years

The world has changed a great deal in recent years and so has the golfing game. Those who are resisting the changes in the world instead of trying to understand them and adapt have often ended up in serious trouble.

It is exactly the same in the golfing game. Those amateur golfers who are ignoring the great changes that we have witnessed in the golfing game in recent times have run into lots of difficulties and many of them no longer enjoy playing the game they way they used to, not too long ago. Some have even altogether given up the golfing game.

Many of these frustrated golfers have failed to see the tremendous changes in the golfing game that have ended up affecting them.

One of them is the change in the way golfers are training and preparing themselves for major tourneys and games. Actually the golfing game has always been considered a leisure activity where one need not even break into a sweat, let alone exercise.

However this thinking and approach has changed completely in recent years. Most professional

golfers these days schedule regular golf exercises into their daily routine. Numerous amateur golfers have done the same and the result is that even the physical appearance of major players of the golfing game has changed. They are getting more and more physically fit.

When you compete with players of the golfing game who are involved in a golf-specific exercising program, the going can get very tough, because the level of their game is bound to be much higher than yours. And contrary to what many people think, these exercises as not so rigorous.

My program has included senior citizens of upto 80 years old who have no problem in adapting to the exercises. And in the end the golf exercise has had a tremendously positive impact on their golfing game.

The Secret To A Better Golf Game

A better golf game is achievable by any golfer. It doesn’t matter what your age is, how good a player you are or how long you’ve been playing. But the key to a better golf game may not be what you think.

The ‘standard’ approach to a better golf game is taking lessons; buying more equipment; and hitting hundreds of golf balls at the range.

Although, the above approach is not altogether incorrect…there is one crucial missing element. That element is your BODY! You swing those fancy clubs; you hit all those balls at the range; and you physically participate in the aspect of taking lessons.

The common denominator is your body. Do you agree? If you don’t, I’d like to hear you’re explanation of why not.

If you are following me, and think I’m remotely correct, then why wouldn’t you work on your body to play a better golf game?

I’m constantly hearing golfers say they’ve taken lessons, bought new equipment and pounded hundreds of balls but still have not seen improvement.

That’s the telltale!

That leaves just one thing…YOU.

Don’t get me wrong…I firmly believe you need an understanding of golf swing technique, and golf

equipment can help. But pounding balls just for the sake of doing it won’t help you play a better golf game.

Now picture this.

You do a few simple stretches and golf exercises daily and go out to play. You now realize you can make a bigger backswing with less tension; you have more clubhead speed enabling you to hit longer drives; and you are not worn out on the back nine.

Isn’t that worth the minimal investment in your time?

To play a better golf game…you’ve got to take a different approach than what you are currently doing. One that gets to the root of the problem. The one that’s causing those mishits and inconsistencies.

You will be amazed at your outcome if you take this approach. You will finally play a better golf game.

The Proper Golf Swing Technique

There is no doubt that the proper golf swing technique is very important if an amateur golfer or any golfer for that matter, is to see their game improve to a significant level.

This is the reason why every golfer without exception constantly aspires to perfecting their technique in executing the golf swing.

In your efforts to get the proper golf swing technique right, it is extremely useful to realize that there are numerous muscles in your body that participate in a proper golf swing technique.

You need the co-operation of all these golf muscles, right from your feet and heels and right up to your shoulder, neck and head. There are actually quite a number of golf muscles that are important to pay attention to when seeking to master the proper technique for the golf swing.

Without the co-operation of these golf muscles, the proper golf swing technique will be useless to you.

Mainly because it will be virtually impossible to execute it. The mind alone cannot achieve the proper technique in the golf swing, you need the full

co-operation of the body.

The only way to gain the co-operation of these muscles in executing a series of movements that are as unnatural and uncomfortable to the body as a golf swing is through exercises. And not any exercises, you will require golf specific exercises from a good golf exercise program.

What the exercises do is strengthen and condition the muscles in your body so that the golf swing starts to feel much more natural to the body.

When this happens, mastering the proper technique in your golf swing ceases to become a struggle and in fact becomes very easy.

This is really the only way that you will be able to utilize and see the benefit of the proper technique in your golf swing.

Core Training For Golfers

Core training for golfers is a must for developing maximum power and distance. As in all athletics, the core is your engine. Everything comes from the core! The modern golf swing is definitely a “core-focused” movement; unlike the older swing technique of lower body action dominant.

You probably have heard the term core training for golfers, but do you know what it means and how to implement it into your golf performance routine?

Your core is the middle section of your body…specifically your abdominal region. If your core is weak or restricted in rotational flexibility, you will have a minimal chance at hitting long drives.

I see this all the time in the senior golfer. No core strength or flexibility, resulting in a HUGE decrease in yardage off the tee. The senior golfer will say things like, “I’ve lost so much yardage off the tee the past few years”; “I use to hit my drives 50 yards further”; “If I could only get 20 more yards I’d be happy”.

This can be a very frustrating situation; but one that can be remedied easily, quickly and in the convenience of your home with minimal equipment. Improving your core rotational strength and flexibility does not require equipment in a gym or club.

You can do exercises as simple as grabbing a single handweight, getting in your

golf posture, and rotating back and through holding the handweight in front of your stomach. You can also do stretches right in your office chair. Sitting upright and reaching around your chair, turning as far as you can to the right, then turning to the left.

These are just some very basic core training for golfers exercises, but they would give you a “kickstart” into doing a complete program for your core.

You will be amazed at how much power you acquire in your swing when you implement a core training for golfers program. Even if that’s all you did for the time-being, you’d be way ahead of the game.

But my guess is once you start slow and easy, you’ll get the “runners high” and want to do more. This does not have to be a gut-busting routine! You can spend as little as 10 minutes a couple of times a week and see results.

Don’t put it off any longer!

Start your core training for golfers today!

The Golf Tip Used by Successful Players

There is one golf tip that is used by most professional players and very few ordinary amateurs. It makes a real difference to your game.

One of the key differences between professionals and ordinary amateurs is that when the professional decides to take a golf tip on board he really works at it. I mean to say that he gives it a lot of thaught and he stays with it for enough time to give it a chance to work.

The ordinary amateur on the other hand will hear a golf tip, give it a try and then probably discard it before they have given it a real chance.

One of the most commonly used golf tips employed by top sports people in all fields is the mind movie. They rehearse exactly what they are going to do in their mind before they carry out the action.

They use a mind movie as a kind of software program to tell their muscles what to do and how to feel during their swing. Then, when they step up to the ball, all they have to do is go on to auto-pilot and a good, well-grooved swing reproduces itself.

This is a golf tip anyone can use.

An important part of this golf tip is to program your swing properly before you make your mind movie. It’s a

bit like driving a car, you drive on auto-pilot, but you had to have some lessons when you first started to drive, then you had to practice until your program for driving became automatic. You can learn to do the same thing with your golf swing and get the same good quality results.

The easy way for an ordinary golfer to adopt this golf tip and achieve a correct and well-grooved golf swing is to develop a mind movie of their own. Then, simply by running this mind movie every time you step up to the ball you will set your well grooved swing in motion. This is what Jack Nicklaus always did.

You can get this golf tip and learn to build your own golf mind movie. Just go to the Google Internet search engine and type in the words ‘golf mind movies’. There you will find a number of sites which will tell you how to develop a powerful and accurate golf swing that repeats even under pressure.

Tips For Golf Swing – Make Your Game Better

There are some fundamental rules to the game of golf. Serious golfers often disagree on what the basics consist of, but if you are among the millions who desperately want to improve their golf swing, these basic tips will help you tremendously and save you a lot of frustration.

The three most important steps you should keep in mind are to keep your head perfectly still, relax your muscles, and keep your club head traveling in a straight line while making contact with the ball. The simple act of keeping your head still throughout your shot can improve your swing immediately. By keeping your club head in a straight line while making contact with the ball, you will avoid slicing and several other undesirable results.

Relaxing your muscles will aid you tremendously in keeping the proper balance. Balance is imperative to a good golf swing. Stand comfortably so you can reach the ball easily and remember that the muscles that propel the ball are the same muscles that twist the body and are the most powerful. No matter what stroke you are making or what club you are playing with, balance is the foundation to a good golf swing, and you must keep your muscles relaxed to achieve perfect balance. Balance really is the cure-all for many faults of golf. Think about keeping your head still and maintaining your balance

at all times and you will have a foundation for an excellent golf game.

In the game of golf, no two people ever swing at the ball in the same way. Because of your individual body build, you develop your own individual set of muscles. A method of swinging a golf club used by one person who is of a different build and has developed a different set of muscles may not be of value to you. Golf will always be an individual sport. Find the method of playing that will produce results for you, and then go with it. When you are ready to play a game, and you are faced with a shot, make your decision on how you are going to do things. Do not be persuaded to change your methods every time you have a bad game.

Make sure you keep your eye on the ball and that any stance you take will allow you to see the ball from every point of the stroke. If your golf swing is off, go back to these fundamental rules and plan each shot in advance. Take your time and develop your own methods that work best for you, but keep in mind these basic principles and you will notice a definite improvement in your golf game.

Golfs Backseat Driver

Ever go golfing with someone who is generous enough to offer you personalized tips every time you go to make a shot? You know, the type of golfers who tell you during your backswing that you should keep your head down? If that’s not irritating enough, these golfers usually play worse than the rest of us but adamantly claim to understand the theory of golf.

Even if our resident Pro is a decent golfer, it is extremely difficult to maintain concentration and enjoy yourself when someone is criticizing your every shot. It’s golf’s version of the backseat driver.

While I can’t speak for the majority, I personally have enough to think about during my 18 holes besides someone telling me how to change my 20 year old habits. I’ve come to terms with the fact that I will never be a great golfer. I understand and accept that I have neither the time nor the desire to bring my game to the next level. If I did, I’d take lessons and practice non-stop. All I have to gain from my round is pure enjoyment of the game, the beautiful outdoors, and being with the boys.

On the rare occasion I have had the opportunity to play with some scratch golfers who have either had a unique ability to keep their tips to themselves or simply just didn’t care enough to comment. These are the times when my playing gets better. Ironically enough, these are also the times that I get the best golf tips.

The last time I was with a scratch golfer, I was slicing terribly. At about the

5th hole, after I sent my ball deep into the adjacent subdivision, my scratch partner simply said, “slow down your swing.” Sure enough, my next drive I kept my swing slow and easy and hit it straight down the fairway. Each hole from there on in got progressively better and this tip has helped me for years to this day.

The conundrum is obvious; do I like being told on the course how to play better golf? No, not really. But in this case, it really helped my game. I settled down after an opening 7 followed by a 10 and managed to squeak out a 103 for 18 holes. The key here, in my opinion, is to limit the golf tips provided by our well meaning partners. When you are told at each shot to try something different, it leads to nothing but disaster. It causes one to think too much. However, throw in the odd tip here and there and major improvements can be made.

So how does one deal with golf’s version of the backseat driver? I personally think the best way is to ignore all comments if they keep coming in rapid fashion. Sure, the odd golf tip may help and should be considered. But, a relentless attack on your game leads to nothing but higher scores.

Why Do You Not Benefit From Coaching Golf Tips

Most golfers have had dozens of opportunities to receive coaching golf tips from numerous sources. However the most interesting aspect of it all is that many are not able to benefit much from these coaching golf tips.

What could be the reason? Is it that the coaching golf tips are not explained in enough detail? Or is it that most golfers fail to grasp them? All these possible reasons are highly unlikely because most coaching golf tips are given and explained in a very practical manner.

If we have any hope of solving this mystery then we must start looking for the answer in the area of implementation. The mind understands but the body is unable to execute. Weak flabby and therefore tense muscles have a problem keeping up with stress and pressure exerted.

Golf still has many players who have stuck to the good old days when exercises were unheard of amongst golfers. When nobody could hear of golf exercise to strengthen muscles and help the golfer dramatically improve on their golf swing. Those are the days when

stretch exercises were very minimal and almost non-existent.

These kinds of golfers would obviously have a serious problem implementing most coaching golf tips and adopting them to their game.

There is yet another reason why many golfers do not benefit from coaching golf tips. It emerges from the fact that not every coaching golf tip will work for every golfer. Some tips will suit the styles of certain golfers more than that of others.

The problem here is that many golfers quickly get discouraged when they find that they cannot use the first few coaching golf tips and abandon all the rest.

This is really sad because in all probability the coaching golf tip that best suits them is somewhere in the long list just waiting to be discovered.

Right Leg & Knee

This article discusses the fifth Concept Golf swing principle. The five swing principles define the golf swing and help you to understand the swing. They are not five more things you are to do. They are not five more things to add to your list of swing musts. Understand them and then simply go play golf.

Watch the players on the Champions (Senior) Tour. Their swings are unique. Their swings are homemade. That’s why those players are still able to play so well. They didn’t try to follow some guy’s ideas of exactly how they should swing. Their focus was always on getting the ball to the target and scoring low. Their swings are identifiable. You know what Arnold’s swing looks like, what Lee Trevino’s looks like, Tom Watson’s etc.

They all know and adhere to the five principles, but their swings look so different from each other. What’s the deal?

Here’s the answer and it’s going to come as quite a shock; all people are different. We are individuals unto ourselves. Bruce Fleisher’s swing can’t and shouldn’t look like Ben Hogan’s swing. Bruce is taller and easier going. Hogan was shorter and had a quicker personality. So Hogan’s swing had to be flat and quick. Fleisher’s swing has to be more upright and slower.

You guessed it, your swing expresses you! It expresses your physical, mental and emotion self. Every golfer’s swing must look different even though it is based on the five swing principles. That’s what we call style. Principles are the foundational rules golfers follow to hit good shots. Golfers must, however, let themselves shine through those principles.

Bottom line: you need to understand the five principles but you MUST do them in your own way.

Now here’s Principle #5

How do baseball pitchers create 95-mile-per-hour pitches that hit a spot the size of a grapefruit? They use the strongest part of their body, the legs, to move the body. More specifically, they use their back leg (the one on the pitching rubber). By pushing with this leg, they create the quick movement in their body that causes the arm to be moved with great enough speed to throw the ball at 95 miles-per-hour and deliver the ball to the center of the catcher’s glove.

Just as the pitcher uses his back leg to throw 95 mile-per-hour pitches to a very small target, you want to use your back leg to create long, accurate shots. It is your source of consistent, effortless power.

Most golfers think their source of power is those little arms. Some of you may not have small arms but they are still smaller and weaker than your legs, aren’t they? You need to use your legs so that you can have an effective swing like all the good players. A nice by-product of using your legs is that you will be as fresh on the back nine as on the front nine. Your legs make your swing powerful and help you hit the ball consistently far. Let’s examine how this works.

To start the swing, move your entire body weight to the right foot quickly enough to cause the arms to

be flung away. When you are positioned with your weight on the front inside part of your right foot, you need to keep your leg flexed just as it was at address. At the top of the backswing, your right knee should point at the ball and should be flexed. This will keep your weight and pressure on your big toe and ball of your right foot. Now your right foot should be in position to push your body forward at any moment during the backswing.

The temptation is to allow your weight to stay on the left foot when you are trying to keep your right knee pointed at the ball during the backswing. You need to make sure your weight actually goes to your right foot when you are trying to keep the pressure on the front inside part of your right foot. The top of the backswing is the same position you are in when you wind up to throw a ball. In fact, it’s a good idea to throw a ball or two just to get the idea of the position you are going to be in. Can you imagine trying to throw a ball if you let your weight stay on your left foot or get to the outside heel of your right foot? Try it! It’s not possible to have any strength or power with your weight out of position.

If your right leg straightens during the backswing, it is useless. Test this idea by straightening your legs and jumping. Don’t bend them, just jump with straight legs. Doesn’t work at all, does it? That’s why you want your right leg flexed at the top of the backswing. As you push against the ground with your big toe and ball of your right foot, your leg straightens out and pushes your body forward with great speed and power.

Your right leg creates the quickness in your body that makes your arms move with real speed. The assumption here is that you are following the relaxation principle and your shoulders are limp at the top of your back swing. All of these principles are interdependent and rely on each other for success. If your arms are working to create the downswing your right leg won’t be able to do its job. Only if your shoulders are relaxed can your right leg do its work and create the speed and consistency you want. Either your arms work or your legs work, but your legs and arms can’t both work at the same time. When your legs do the work and your arms are relaxed followers, you will hit a lot of very good shots.
